Nick Drake

This is one of my favorite songs by Nick Drake. His subtle voice and the organ and celesta, is a perfect recipe for a unique combination that is down right soothing. Drake's metaphor filled lyrics are simple, yet deep enough to be open for several interpretations..., makes one feel like a thinker after each song.

Northern Sky is a love song from his Bryter Layter album, 1970. I personally don't understand why it wasn't much of a commercial success. Then again, the world is a funny place. Not much is known about Nick Drake and no known footage of him during his adult years exist. He suffered from depression throughout this very short lifetime, (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) and died of an overdose. A great poet, drake was and anyone who has an appreciation for poetry and sombre lyrics would love him.
